About Me

My journey so far

Sam Clark is a freelance journalist who found his passion for media after watching local and national news programs. He was inspired by the production of the different shows and this influenced his career choice. Work experience at well-known companies such as BBC Look East, NLive Radio, and Ben and Jack studios has expanded his knowledge and understanding of how the industry works.

Sam studied a Multimedia Journalism degree at the University of Northampton. The degree is accredited by the BJTC. During his time in Northampton he further developed his journalism skills of writing, presenting and editing across multimedia platforms for different outputs.

His course included weekly newsdays which replicated the newsroom environment. He had to produce news stories to a tight deadline for radio, television, online and social media. This included gathering interviews and voxpops from individuals and local businesses. Sam has also completed a set of podcasts which were recorded throughout his final year of university. His newsroom experience has been consolidated by several work placements.

At university he acquired an understanding of the law and ethics that apply to current day journalism and the importance of writing balanced news stories and fact checking. Sam is proficient in Adobe Premiere, Audition and Indesign. He can also use autocue, check the sound levels in tv studios and vision mix.

Looking to the future, Sam hopes to work with radio and tv organisations where he can produce long documentary style features that tackle some of the major topics of conversation in society. Eventually Sam aims to specialise in producing radio which is where his passion lies.
